EDITORIAL CONTENT AND CURATORIAL APPROACH Peeping Tom's Digest is an experimental and subjective publication dedicated to contemporary art. Each issue focuses on trends and movements of a particular geographic area and highlights the artists and initiatives represented within it. The point of departure for each edition is a residency of the Peeping Tom collective lasting several months in the chosen city, region or country. Deliberately empirical, without critical, theoretical or historical pretensions, its approach allows them to veer off the beaten path. Not only sharing the work, the artists, and the artistic and cultural efforts they encountered, each volume also aims to reveal the specificity of a depicted art scene: the curatorial process and the structure of the magazine (graphic design, format, number of pages and so on) varies from issue to issue reflecting the characteristics and stakes of each locale. The genealogy of the experiment and its numerous protagonists are showcased in the publication as an inserted poster. Peeping Tom stayed in Mexico from October through December 2009. Their search for talent began in Mexico City through a progressive and systematic following of initial and ongoing recommendations of people to meet and places to visit, and then onward to Guadalajara and Oaxaca. This second issue showcasing Mexico includes a selection of fifty artists, art agents and initiatives representative of Peeping Tom's undertaking. A discursive format was adopted for this issue with language and conversation being the main vehicle of the collective's understanding and enlightenment during their exploration. This publication is composed of interviews, critical studies, essays, creative writings and informal conversations, conducted by twenty-five key figures (critics, art historians, curators, gallerists, collectors and artists, among other individuals) who substantially contribute to the dynamism and growth of the Mexican art scene. VERSION FRANCAISE CONTENU EDITORIAL Dans la lignée des expositions et événements de Peeping Tom, Peeping Tom's Digest est une revue expérimentale et subjective dédiée à la création contemporaine. Chaque volume est consacré à la scène artistique d'un territoire (une ville, un pays, une région) et met en avant les artistes qui la représentent. Le point de départ de chaque numéro est la résidence du collectif Peeping Tom pendant une période de quelques mois dans le pays choisi - souvent au hasard des rencontres et opportunités et non en fonction de sa pertinence artistique, Peeping Tom revendiquant une démarche intuitive. Délibérément empirique, leur méthode consiste à s'immerger dans la (les) communauté(s) artistique(s) locale(s) dans le but de mieux la(les) décrire, de découvrir et de faire partager des oeuvres, des artistes et des initiatives artistiques et culturelles peu ou pas représentés dans la presse internationale. Sans prétention critique, théorique ou historique, leur démarche relève d'une expérimentation permettant ainsi de sortir des sentiers battus. Chaque numéro tente également de révéler la spécificité de la scène artistique décrite : l'approche curatoriale ainsi que la structure du magazine elle-même seront différentes à chaque numéro, afin de refléter les problématiques et les enjeux de chacune de ces scènes. Suite au premier numéro consacré à la ville de Berlin, Peeping Tom's Digest#2 met en avant la scène artistique contemporaine du Mexique. Peeping Tom a séjourné au Mexique d'Octobre à Décembre 2009. Leur recherche de talents a pris pour base et point de départ la ville de Mexico et s'est étendue aux villes de Guadalajara et Oaxaca. Ce deuxième numéro présente une cinquantaine d'artistes et acteurs du monde de l'art, représentatifs de leur expérience mexicaine. La forme discursive a été choisie pour ce numéro, le langage et la parole étant les véhicules principaux de leur exploration et érudition. Ce livre contient une cinquantaine d'articles aux formes variées : interviews, essais critiques, fictions, textes théoriques ou encore conversations informelles sont menés par 25 figures de l'art contemporain (critiques, historiens de l'art, commissaires d'exposition, galeristes, collectionneurs et artistes), qui contribuent au dynamisme et à la pertinence de la scène artistique mexicaine.
